Howdy folks!Did you think I took a week off? Think again. Before we dive in I'm going to give a quick primer on three key concepts which are referenced throughout this piece.Crypto - Think of it like using secret passwords to rebuild things on the internet as peer-to-peer instead of the centralized world we live in today. You can really turn anything into crypto: cryptocurrency (aka Bitcoin), cryptocontracts (aka smart contracts), crypto companies (aka DAOs).NFT - Think of it like a passport for a digital file. You get all the benefits of owning art, but since NFTs are digital, you also get all the benefits of online distribution. Blockchains - Both crypto broadly and NFTs specifically work because of blockchains. Patrick Rivera described it eloquently when he said, “blockchains enable public access and private ownership of any digital file.” Blockchains are the backbone of crypto, because anyone can join the blockchain network since its peer-to-peer and thus permissionless. As always, please hit reply to strum up some convo with me. I've really been enjoying the back and forth with a handful of you!
